Burlesque Mon Amour and the celebration of diversity. I started photographing burlesque on October 19. It was a Wednesday night in the Lower East Side of NYC, and I was backstage at The Slipper Room photographing Juno Stardust’s debut at this unique venue. That night, I witnessed how burlesque empowers all of us by asserting that sensuality comes from within ourselves and that “sexiness” cannot be defined by a specific type of body or gender. That night was the beginning of an ongoing journey that survived a year of shutdown and social distancing.
